How do you choose a logistics and freight transport company?

First ask yourself what your company needs; you need to know exactly what your needs are.

Once you are sure of this, it is important that the company you choose has experience in the sector, that is, that the operator is used to working on as many scenarios as possible.

It is also important that it has different resources (land, sea or air) as your needs won’t always be the same and you may have different products that require a variety of resources. Furthermore, it is better if they can offer you different types of containers, so that whatever transport is chosen, the freight travels in optimal conditions.

Experience is another factor with extensive knowledge being essential to advise you in multiple areas, so the advisory service is an extra to consider.

What are Incoterms?

International Commercial Terms or Incoterms are those terms through which purchase and sale transactions are established between companies from different countries.

Their purpose is to unify commercial concepts, so that the seller and buyer understand the conditions and risks of transactions that they are going to mutually enter into. This avoids misunderstandings and problems that could lead to legal proceedings.

What types of customs facilities exist?

Customs warehouse

Its location is a facility which must be located and recognized by the customs authorities. The customer can store the goods indefinitely and they are normally used by importing companies with high-value goods.

Premises authorized for export goods

They have the advantage of being able to carry out customs export operations through partial receipts, without it being necessary for the goods to pass through customs.

Temporary storage facility (ADT)

They receive non-Community goods to which a customs procedure will be assigned. These goods have tariffs and VAT suspended and must carry out import clearances in 20 or 45 days.
